Who runs this website and what is the long term plan?
The basic game plan at the moment is to create a comprehensive website that lists all the shops and outlets in the Paignton area. Shop Paignton would mainly be of use to local people searching the internet for retailers who may not have websites and who's businesses may not be visible in the main search engines. Also for tourists and visitors to the area looking for products or services in town or near by.
This vision has come about from my own experience of searching Google for certain products which I need to pick up 'now' not have delivered tomorrow. As many small business feel a full website is not necessary I feel they are missing out on exposure on the internet, and likewise potential customers may not be able to find local businesses when looking on internet search engines.
Initially Shop Paignton was setup by the Paignton Traders Association but is now under the control of local web designer Chris Harvey. I am fanatical about attention to detail in making websites and this website is no exception, I'm doing everything I possibly can to give this site the best possible chance of success. The original motivation for this website continues; supporting independent businesses and promoting the town itself, therefore this website is for independent traders only.
Please note that this website is still very much under construction!
I'm investing great amounts of time and money into this project myself and want to see it benefit the people of Paignton as well as it's traders. In time I will contact all the shops and businesses in Paignton in the hope to list every one without exception. Also please note that all the information here is first draft and subject to change.
